All Speech Pathologists at WPSP are registered with Medicare.

Chronic Disease Management Program (formerly known as EPC plan)
Children with complex care needs may be eligible for a Medicare Rebate for up to 5 Speech Pathology visits per year. Children may be eligible if they require services from more than one medical or allied health practitioner (e.g. Speech Pathology + Psychology, Occupational therapy, Audiology, or Medical Specialist). Ask your GP for more information about your eligibility for a CDM plan.

Helping Children with Autism and Better Start Initiative
Children with Autism and specific disabilities may also be referred for Speech Pathology assessment and/or treatment under Medicare. The maximum number of therapy sessions is 20. A Medicare rebate applies to these sessions.

Referrals
Referrals for the 20 sessions under the Helping Children with Autism and Better Start Initiative must be obtained before your child’s 13th birthday. Treatment sessions must be completed before your child turns 15.

Discuss a referral with your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist (for referral under Helping Children with Autism) and your Paediatrician or GP (for referral under the Better Start Initiative).
